The tablets should be taken orally with food, without chewing and drinking plenty of water.

Adults: appoint 25 mg (1 tab.) 3-4 times / day (75-100 mg / day).

Children:

at the age of 3 to 6 years, appoint 1/2 tab. (12.5 mg) 2 times / day, daily dose - 25 mg;

at the age of 6 to 14 years - 1/2 tab. (12.5 mg) 2-3 times / day, daily dose - 25-37.5 mg;

at the age of 14 to 18 years - 1 tab. (25 mg) 3-4 times / day, daily dose - 75-100 mg.

The dose for children can be gradually increased in the absence of side effects in the patient, but the maximum dose should never exceed 2 mg / kg body weight.

The duration of the course of treatment depends on the nature, symptoms of the disease, the degree of their manifestation, the duration and course of the disease.

• Hypersensitivity to drug components;

The drug should be used with caution in angle-closure glaucoma, in patients with urinary retention, prostatic hyperplasia, liver and / or kidney dysfunction, cardiovascular diseases, in elderly patients.

Application during pregnancy and lactation:

Pregnancy

There have been no adequate and well-controlled studies of the use of antihistamines in pregnancy. However, in newborns whose mothers took antihistamines in the last months of pregnancy, cases of the development of retrolental fibroplasia have been described. In accordance with this, the use of the drug Suprastin® during pregnancy is contraindicated.

Breast-feeding

The use of the drug Suprastin® is contraindicated during breastfeeding. If necessary, use of the drug during lactation should stop breastfeeding.

Application for violations of liver function:

The drug should be used with caution in case of liver dysfunction.

Application for impaired renal function:

The drug should be used with caution in case of impaired renal function.

Application in children:

The drug is contraindicated for use in newborns (including premature babies).

The drug in the form of tablets is contraindicated in children under 3 years of age.

Elderly patients:

The use of the drug in elderly patients requires special care, because in these patients, antihistamines are more likely to cause side effects (dizziness, drowsiness).

Side effects, as a rule, are extremely rare, are temporary and disappear after the drug is discontinued.

There are no clinical studies to establish the frequency of adverse reactions.

From the blood and lymphatic system: leukopenia, agranulocytosis, hemolytic anemia and other changes in the cellular composition of the blood (for example, thrombocytopenia with prolonged use of the drug).

From the immune system: allergic reactions.

From the nervous system: drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness with sensation of rotation (vertigo), nervous excitement, ataxia, tremor, headache, euphoria, convulsions, encephalopathy.

From the side of the organ of vision: blurred vision, attacks of glaucoma, increased intraocular pressure.

From the side of the cardiovascular system: lowering blood pressure, tachycardia, arrhythmia.

From the gastrointestinal tract: abdominal discomfort, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, loss or increase in appetite, pain in the upper abdomen.

From the musculoskeletal system: myopathy.

From the urinary system: difficulty urinating, urinary retention.

On the part of the skin and subcutaneous tissues: photosensitivity.

If any of the above effects occur, the patient should stop taking the drug and immediately consult a doctor.

Side effect reports

If the patient notes the above side effects, or they get worse, or any other side effects occur, he should inform the doctor about it.

MAO inhibitors enhance and prolong the anticholinergic effects of Suprastin®.

Special care should be taken with the simultaneous use of Suprastin® tablets with barbiturates, hypnotics, anxiolytic and sedatives, tranquilizers, opioid analgesics, tricyclic antidepressants, atropine, m-anticholinergics: Suprastin® and any of these drugs can enhance the effects of each other.

During treatment, the use of alcoholic beverages is prohibited: alcohol enhances the depressing effect of Suprastin® on the central nervous system.

When combined with ototoxic drugs, Suprastin® can mask early signs of ototoxicity.

Antihistamines suppress skin reactions in response to allergic skin tests, therefore, the use of Suprastin® should be discontinued several days before skin tests.

Overdose of antihistamines, especially in children, can be fatal, especially in infants.

Symptoms: in case of an overdose, Suprastin® causes symptoms similar to atropine poisoning, such as hallucinations, anxiety, ataxia, impaired coordination of movements, athetosis, convulsions. In young children, excitement prevails. Sometimes there is dry mouth, fixed dilation of the pupils, flushing of the facial skin, sinus tachycardia, urinary retention, fever. In adults, fever and flushing of the facial skin may be absent, after a period of excitement, convulsions and post-convulsive depression follow, with the possible development of coma and cardiovascular and respiratory failure, which can lead to the death of the patient within 2-18 hours.

Treatment: due to the anticholinergic effect of this drug, gastric emptying is slowed down. Thus, induction of vomiting, gastric lavage and administration of activated charcoal are recommended within 12 hours after overdose. Monitoring of indicators of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, symptomatic therapy are recommended. The specific antidote is unknown.
