A satisfactory therapeutic result is usually achieved within 7 days from the start of treatment. However, to achieve the full therapeutic effect, regular intake of the drug is required for 2-4 weeks. With OCD, it may take 8-12 weeks to achieve good results. The minimum dose providing a therapeutic effect is retained in the future as a maintenance one.

For children with OCD, the drug is prescribed depending on age. For children aged 6 to 12 years, the initial dose is 25 mg 1 time / day in the morning or evening. After a week, the dose can be increased to 50 mg 1 time / day. For children and adolescents aged 12 to 17 years, the initial dose is 50 mg 1 time / day, morning or evening. To avoid an overdose, one should take into account the lower body weight in children compared to adults, and when the dose is increased by more than 50 mg / day, careful monitoring of this category of patients is necessary and the drug should be canceled at the first signs of an overdose.

In elderly patients, a special dose selection is not required.

In severe liver dysfunction, the dose of the drug should be reduced or the intervals between doses should be increased.

In patients with impaired renal function, a special dose adjustment is not required.

Hypersensitivity, childhood, lactation.

Impaired consciousness, ataxia, discoordination, hyper- and paresthesia, hyperkinesia, hypo- and dyskinesia, generalized convulsions, migraine, mydriasis, nystagmus, dizziness, headache, arterial hypertension or hypotension, tachycardia, collaptoid states, ptosis, hyporeflexia, aggressiveness, amnesia, apathy, depersonalization, emotional lability, euphoria, hallucinations, paranoid reactions, somnambulism, withdrawal syndrome, edema, bronchospasm, cough, dyspnoea, dysphagia, irritation of the gastrointestinal mucosa, hypersalivation, glossitis, arthrallastic stomatitis, gums dysmenorrhea, breast enlargement and tenderness, anemia, lymphadenopathy, dysuria, allergic reactions.

When administered together with MAO inhibitors, it causes hyperthermia, myoclonus, irritability, agitation, impaired consciousness, delirium, turning into a coma. Promotes the cumulation of H1-blockers (astemizole, terfenadine, cisapride). Increases the plasma level of the free fraction (displaces from the connection with proteins) H2-blockers, tricyclic antidepressants, sulfonylurea derivatives, anxiolytics, warfarin, digoxin.

Symptoms: drowsiness, anxiety, nausea, vomiting, tachycardia, ECG changes. Treatment: activated charcoal, gastric lavage, forced diuresis, maintenance of vital functions.
