Lamitor tablets are indicated for the treatment of:

• Epilepsy: as adjunctive therapy in adults and children for partial seizures, primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
• Bipolar disorder: for the maintenance treatment of bipolar I disorder to delay the time to occurrence of mood episodes (depression, mania, hypomania, mixed episodes) in patients treated for acute mood episodes with standard therapy.

• Hypersensitivity to lamotrigine or any component of the formulation.
• Patients with a history of rash or hypersensitivity reaction to other antiepileptic drugs.
• Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 mL/min).
• Patients with a history of suicidal behavior or ideation.

Each Lamitor tablet contains 100 mg of lamotrigine as the active ingredient.

• The dosage of Lamitor tablets varies depending on the patient's age, weight, and medical condition.
• For epilepsy, the recommended initial dose in adults and children over 12 years of age is typically 25 mg once daily for two weeks, followed by gradual dose escalation.
• For bipolar disorder, the recommended maintenance dose is typically 100-200 mg once daily.
• Dosage adjustments may be necessary based on individual patient response and tolerability.

Common side effects of lamotrigine may include:

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Somnolence (sleepiness)
• Ataxia (loss of coordination)
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Insomnia
• Rash (including serious rash such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis)

• Lamotrigine should be initiated and titrated according to a specific dosing schedule to reduce the risk of serious rash.
