In an acute attack of malaria: an initial dose of 800 mg, then after 6-8 hours, 400 mg for 2 days. The total dose for the course is 2 g.

Hypersensitivity (including to other aminoquinolines), damage to the liver, kidneys, bone marrow, central nervous system and heart, retinal pathology, psychosis, porphyria, pregnancy, lactation, childhood (long-term therapy is excluded).

Headache, dizziness, tinnitus, ataxia, anxiety, irritability, emotional lability, nystagmus, convulsions, impaired accommodation, corneal edema, retinal dyspigmentation, optic nerve atrophy, scotoma, cardiomyopathy, decreased myocardial conduction and contractility, impaired neuromuscular conduction body weight, alopecia, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, epigastric pain, aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia (in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency), dermatitis, allergic reactions.

It enhances the side effects of glucocorticoids, salicylates, quinidine-like antiarrhythmics, hemato, hepato and neurotoxic agents.

Symptoms: headache, dizziness, vision changes, cardiovascular failure, various conduction disturbances, ventricular arrhythmias, disturbances of consciousness. Treatment: repeated gastric lavage (to clean wash water), the appointment of activated carbon, maintenance of vital functions.
